'Pure' IP / Tannoy Solutions
SIP IP PA / Tannoy Installation & Application:
Identifying the system components:
- System operation and paging announcements are made using IP Telephones.
- The SIP enabled IP-PBX is central to this design. As a SIP registrar and
SIP proxy server, it is responsible for managing, establishing and controlling
the paging calls from the IP telephones to the Paging Controller.
- The Paging Controller is accessed using a browser to manage, set-up and
configure the PA system application and paging zones (eg. 'time of day'
control and volume levels). The Paging Controller is also responsible for
establishing and controlling the 'session' links to the IP speakers (eg.
multicast SIP sessions).
- The Power Over Ethernet (POE) network switch/s are responsible for providing
network access and power to the IP speakers (local power options also available
for non POE environments).
- IP(SIP) Speakers are simple 'auto answer' SIP endpoints that provide up
to 10watts power output.
How it works:
User dials the access code for the PA/Tannoy system. The IP-PBX establishes
a SIP session from the IP Telephone to the Paging Controller. The Paging
Controller may present options to the User for paging zone details. The
Paging Controller then establishes a SIP session or 'multicast' broadcast
to all of the zone IP speakers selected. User now makes the paging / announcement
call. End of paging / announcement, User IP Telephone, Paging Controller
and SIP / multicast session ends and clears. End of paging /announcement.
Notes:
1. The Paging Controller takes up only a single SIP endpoint licence from
the IP-PBX.
2. The IP(SIP) speakers are generic SIP endpoints
that do not take licence from the IP-PBX.
